ADVANTAGES

EASY TO USE
VERY LITTLE MAINTENANCE
ACCOMODATES HEAPED LOADS

DISADVANTAGES

ARMS ARE SUSEPTIBLE TO BEING HIT BY LOADER
TARP CAN FLAP WHILE GOING DOWN THE ROAD

This system has a pivoting spring loaded arm on each side of the trailer.  Usually electrically operated, a manual model is available.  As the front roller is turned the tarp wraps around it which pulls the arms forward uncovering the trailer.  At the same time this is causing pressure to be applied to the springs on the arms.  To cover the trailer, the front roller is simply reversed letting the tarp unroll.  The springs then pull the arms to the rear of the trailer and cover the load.

ADVANTAGES

BOWS MOVE OUT OF WAY WITH SYSTEM
TARP STAYS TIGHT DURING TRAVEL

DISADVANTAGES

MORE LIMITED IN HEIGHT COMPARED TO FLIP
SLIGHTLY MORE MAINTENANCE THAN FLIP SYSTEM

This is a cable operated system with moving bows which support the tarp. The bows are encased in pockets sewn into the tarp. It comes either as an electrically operated system or one with a ground control crank. As the system is operated both the tarp and the bows move forward or backward automatically gathering at the front of the trailer for loading. There is never a need to manually remove the bows. The system rides directly on top of the trailer. There is no track to be damaged or to get in the way.

Anti-pollution model: This designed for materials that are not effected by water. The tarp is slightly narrower than the trailer itself. This allows for containment of the load but does allow water to enter as well. The tarp can be mesh or vinyl.

Semi-Waterproof  model:  This is similar to the anti-pollution model but we now sew on heavy duty flaps to cover the full width of the trailer. The flaps do not drop down the sides but they do allow for most of the rain to run off the outside rather than inside the trailer.  This is popular with many asphalt haulers.

DISADVANTAGES

SAME HEIGHT LIMITATIONS AS A SIDE ROLL

This also is a cable operated system like the Slide N Go but is waterproof with 6” drops on the sides.  It is an excellent system for hauling asphalt in those areas that require drop sides or for anyone needing a more versatile system than a side roll but still needs waterproof capabilities.

BOWS USUALLY HAVE TO BE REMOVED FOR LOADING

This is a side to side system having a permanent stationary pipe running the length of the trailer on one side and a rolling pipe on the other side.  The tarp is attached to the two pipes.  There is an attached handle at the rear of the trailer.  There are no ratchets or straps to undo.  The driver simply releases the handle from its mounting and rolls the tarp over to the opposite side to uncover the load.  To cover, he reverses the process and rolls the tarp back over and then locks the system in place with the handle.  This system requires the use of steel bows to support the tarp and to prevent water from ponding on it.  Depending on the commodity being loaded it is quite often necessary for the driver to manually remove the bows for loading.
